INTRODUCTION
The survival of civilizations depends very much on the sustainability of its society that is driven by a balanced development between the spiritual and physical aspects. The status of developments in today’s world relies greatly on science and technological progress as well as significant and intertwining role played by the corporate, business, public, educational and political sectors. Nonetheless, the possibility of deviations and misconducts are always present. The above mentioned scenario warrants a clear framework of understanding in relation to ethics and professionalism.
The International Conference on Ethics and Professionalism 2010 organized by UKM and UNESCO is a broad platform to discuss the disciplinary and interdisciplinary practices related to ethics and professionalism that arise in the context of real world applications. It highlights what constitutes ethics and professionalism in the context of sustainable science, technology and society.
The discussion of papers may range from the theoretical and philosophical as well as the practical aspects of ethics and professionalism, to wide-ranging multidisciplinary practices and perspectives on knowledge and methods. In the spirit of interdisciplinary interchange, the Conference will involve scholars, researchers, professionals, corporate and business sectors, policymakers, teachers and practitioners working in a broad range of areas including Sciences, Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Management, Sociology, Education, Religion, Business, Law, Politics, Arts, Literature etc.
The Conference will offer a comprehensive overview of current thinking, research and practices on ethics and professionalism in relation to sustainable science, technology and society from broad analysis to detailed case studies. It will traverse a broad terrain, from theory and analysis to practical strategies and actions.
