Saurabh Basu did his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur (India) in 1999. Thereafter he was a post doctoral fellow at Tata Institute of Fundamental research (TIFR), Mumbai (India) during 1999-2000 and Queens University, Kingston (Canada) for the period 2000-2002. He started his career from Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS), Pilani (India) as a senior lecturer in 2002 and hence joined the IIT, Guwahati (India) in 2003 as an assistant professor. He has been appointed as an associate professor since 2007 (till date). He was a visiting fellow at the IIT Kharagpur, India (1999), Univ. of Frankfurt, Germany (2007), International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy (2007) and Bilkent Univ. Ankara, Turkey (2011). He has about 50 research publications in various areas of Physics and Nanotechnology.
