SAS exist since 1963 in Cheras, the address being Sekolah Alam Shah, Jalan Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. When I checked-in SAS in 1967 Jan, SAS was a (the only) prestigious full-board school for malay-medium SRP passers, the cream through out the country. It imboards form four (science stream) through to form six (both science and arts stream). In about 1974, SAS imboarded forms 1 through to form 5; discontinued form six which was replaced by UKM matriculation; all were science, no more arts. The english-medium congeners were plenty: MCKK (Kuala Kangsar), STAR (Ipoh), SDAR (Tanjung Malim) for the boys; TKC (Seremban) and TFS (Johor Bharu) for the girls. In 1995 these full-board schools were all equalized to submit to the same national programme of education; and SAS was a top contender. Almost all those who checked-in SAS in 1995 did not know the history of our national education programme. Incidentally, those who checked-in in dec 1995, became the most "senior" SASian because they were "interned" for exactly 61 months; those before and after that, were "interned" for 60 or 48 months (pre-1974), or less. Development had transformed Kampong Congo into Bandar Tun Razak; consequently SAS address changed to Jalan Tenteram, Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur. The development connecting Bandar Tun Razak with Sungai Besi (then was only by a narrow windy road) was about to take place. In five years 1995-2000, Kampong Congo was not heard of again. It changed into a cosmopolitan, complete with a "super" (read: toll) highway including the pity "misplaced" HUKM. In late 2000 the Jalan Tenteram was renamed Jalan Yaacob Latif;

In April 2003, SAS Cheras moved to Putrajaya, and was named SAS Putrajaya. The SAS Cheras was renamed Sekolah Menengah Sains Alam Shah (SMSAS). Jan 2004 was the first SASputran pedigree while rearing the reminder of the SASians. By Jan 2008, SASian will vanish to give away to SASputran;
