BANGI, 9 Feb. 2012 – The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) is interested to co-operate with UKM in three specialized areas involving research involving usage of water and energy.
Its Director General, Dr Naji Mohammed Al-Mutairi who visited and looked at the various facilities and research products of UKM scientists at the Innovation, Energy and Green Technology Park near the UKM campus here today, said they are interested in our water cooling system, the use of renewable energy and desalination techniques.
Dr Naji who is here on a three day visit came to the park with his two colleagues, Dr Salah Al-Mazidi dan Dr Hamad Al-Hasawi.
The Director of the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI), Prof. Dato’ Dr Kamaruzzaman Sopian brought the Kuwaitis around the park and brief them on each project. Scientists from SERI and researchers was also present.
The objectives of the visit are to know more about the role and functions of relevant research and technology institutes in Malaysia and to look for opportunities for possible scientific cooperation between KISR and organizations in Malaysia.
Dr Naji said he is impressed with the facilities and research products in UKM and hope to develop follow-ups in the form of cooperation between the two sides.
Dr Naji was appointed the Director General of KISR in 2007 and has since launched a road map of 20 years to transform KISR into a R & D Centre of Excellence.
Besides developing a physical master plan for KISR facilities and research stations, he also launched an ambitious master plan for manpower development. ![]()
