UKM Organising International Visual Informatics Conference Next Week

BANGI, 2 Nov. 2011 – Professionals in the field of Visual Informatics will gather here next week (9-11 Nov) for the 2nd International Visual Informatics Conference (IVIC’11).

Organised by the Institute of Visual Informatics and Faculty of Information Science and Technology, The National University of Malaysia (UKM), it will also be attended by engineers, academicians and those in the industries worldwide.

To be held at Bangi Equatorial Hotel, the conference with the theme “Visual Informatics: Sustainable Innovations Towards Wealth Creation” is scheduled to be officially opened by the Minister for Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

The Secretary for IVIC’11, Associate Professor Dr Azlina Ahmad said among the objectives of the conference is to promote discussions and exchange of ideas and knowledge among researchers from various countries in the field of Visual Informatics.

It also hopes to generate and diffuse new theories, applications and technologies in Visual Informatics besides serving as a platform for research collaboration among institutions of  higher learning in the field of Visual Informatics. 

Areas to be covered includes Virtual Technology, Computer Vision, Visualisation and Simulation, Visual Surveillance, Cyber Security, Green Technology, High Performance Computing, Machine Vision, Engineering and Image Processing, Video & Image Retrieval, Virtual Games, Medical Image Processing dan Creative Multimedia.
