PORT DICKSON, 5 Dec. 2011 – The National University of Malaysia (UKM) team won the beach volleyball (men) championship beating the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) team on the final day of the Malaysian Universities’ Beach Sports Championship (MASUM) here yesterday.
UKM represented by Tan Song Wee and Muhd. Azli Zamdri beat the UPM team 2-0 despite fielding a national player, Yogeswaran.
The UKM beach soccer team, however, lost to Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) in the finals of the beach soccer competition 2-4. The UKM team had earlier beaten the Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UnisZA) team 3-1 in the semi finals.
The championship was organised by MASUM and University Technology MARA (UiTM). Over 1000 students and officials from the various universities took part.
The championship held over four days from last Thursday at the Pantai Bagan Pinang here were for beach soccer, beach volleyball dan beach run for both men and women and beach basketball women and sepak takraw men.
Director General National Sports Council, Dato’ Zolkples Embong; UiTM Vice Chancellor, Dato’ Prof Ir Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar and Director of UKM Sports Centre, Dr Tajul Arifin Muhamad attended the championship![]()
