UNIVERSITY KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA 40TH ANNIVERSARY LAUNCHING CEREMONY AND UKM ROYAL CONCERT 2010

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia will be celebrating its 40th anniversary on Thursday May 18th. Celebrations marking the milestone will be launched by its Chancellor, the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir at the Senate Room in the Chancery in Bangi. Tuanku Aishah Rohani Binti Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud will also attend the ceremony.

Tuanku Muhriz  will for the first time give the Chancellor’s Royal Lecture entitled ““UKM University for the world”. It will narrate the milestones and achievements made by UKM as the apex institution of the National Education Policy. It will also outline efforts carried out by UKM to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.

An exhibition on the theme “Mencerna Warisan Memacu Wawasan” will also be held at the Foyer of the Chancellory to showcase the challenges it had faced, its development,  its achievements as well as recognition it has received both locally and internationally. Its niche in research in the various fields including the environment and ecosystem, and knowledge as well as its transformation plan together with the various awards and recognition received by its team of lecturers and researchers will also be put up on display. Its various influential figures and Alumni from its inception to date will also be showcased and recognised.

Its latest book publication, first day cover and commemorative stamps and its new News Portal will also be launched in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition. The News Portal is to publicise the various research carried out  and innovations done by its lecturers and team of researchers. It will also include all the latest news related to the university. All the news and information carried in the portal can be assessed for use by the media.

A UKM Royal Concert will also be held in the Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak (DECTAR) on May 22nd. It will be graced by the Malay Rulers. The UKM Royal

Concert is to recognise the role played by the rulers in ensuring the university’s continued progress and achievements in the fields of education and research.
