PKP would like to inform all prospective international candidates that programmes offered through PKP are mostly in the Executive mode; i.e classes are conducted either during the weekends or after office hours to enable candidates to work and study simultaneously..
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entry requirement varies from programme to programme. Please refer to the programme prospectus for details of entry requirement for each programme. General entry requirement for most programmes are as follows: Bachelors’ Degrees
All undergraduate programmes offered through PKP UKM are not opened to international students. Postgraduate Diplomas
• Bachelor’s degree relevant to the programme applied with a minimum of 3 years working experience; or
• Relevant Diploma recognised by Malaysian Accreditation Board or its equivalence with a minimum of 8 years working experience in related fields Masters Degrees
• Bachelor’s degree relevant to the programme applied with a minimum of 3 years working experience in related fields.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
International (non-Malaysian) candidates intending to enroll in UKM programmes are required to attain a minimum score of 550 for TOEFL and a band 5 for IELTS as a prerequisites. However, scores may vary depending on individual faculty’s requirements.Please refer to the programme leaflets for details.
All non-Mlaaysian candidates are required to complete two courses of " Bahasa Melayu For Academic Purposes" which will be organized by the university. Exemptions may be awarded to candidates who have undergone similar courses in Bahsa Melayu organized by other organizations which are recognized by the university.
MONTHLY EXPENSES
The basic monthly expenses for International candidates attendign full time postgraduate programmes at UKM are approximately US$400 per person. This amount is exclusive of the tuition fee but includes an estimate of accomodation in the campus or within the campus area, transportation as weel as such personal items as clothes, laundry, and incidental expenditures.
The university reserves the right to change all tuition and fee amounts and policies without prior notice.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
English is in general the medium of instruction for postgraduate programmes. International candidates are advised to undertake Bahasa Melayu Proficiency courses) prior to commencing on their academic programme via PKP UKM to develop and / or to enhance their competency in using the language.
International candidates pursuing postgraduate programmes are required to complete two courses (totaling four units) in Bahasa Melayu, which will be organised by the University. Exemptions may be awarded to candidates who have undergone similar courses in Bahasa Melayu organised by other organisations which are recognised by the University.
IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES::
Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia " The Immigration Department of Malaysia has hassle-free immigration procedures for international students to gain entry into Malaysia. It is relatively simple and easy to obtain a visa and a student pass fo the pursuit of full-time higher education in Malaysia. On top of that, you can bring along your spouse or family members to stay with you while you are studying here."
PKP UKM reserves the right not to accept applications from international candidates without clear proof of the following:- • having high commitment and readiness to pursue postgraduate studies in UKM;
• having sufficient financial resources to support candidates throuhout the study duration in UKM;
• in good health and of good character with the genuine intention of entering Malaysia solely for study purposes and intend to leave Malaysia upon completion of your studies.
