Posted by Webmaster on January 1, 2012  •  Comments (64)  •

UKM will embark on seven micro-algae research projects, with the hope of commercialization. Micro-algae is a plant that makes the sea and the river turned green and is considered as a plant that will be able to solve many problems of the world due to their variety of uses. If it can be produced in large quantities it probably can end the food shortage and provide a solution to the escalating demand. Four MoUs were signed between UKM represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof Dr Hj Ahmad Sharim with Massey University, New Zealand, represented by Professor Yusuf Chisti.

Among the research to be done here is the impact of micro-algae as food for the fish in Lake Chini, in hope to rebreed the fish to overcome the shortage of fish in the area. Also present at the ceremony was Prof Dato' Dr Mushrifah Idris, Head of Tasik Chini Research Centre (PPTC)....
