Background

The Regional Education Seminar is a biannual academic collaboration forum between the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the Faculty of Teaching and Education, Universitas Riau (UNRI). This seminar is the outcome of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Sham Sani, Vice Chancellor, UKM and Prof. Dr. Mohamad Diah, Rector, UNRI on 26th February 1997. The 1st Regional Education Seminar was held on 15 – 16 May 2003 in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia; the 2nd on 4 - 5 March 2005 in UKM, Bangi, Malaysia; and the 3rd on 2 – 3 May 2007 in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. The 4th seminar will now be held at Klana Resort, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Indonesia on 18 – 21 May 2009 with the theme “Towards Research University Excellence”. This seminar aims to strengthen the academic relationship between and among countries within the region that would benefit academicians and learners. This 4th seminar is unique because, apart from the paper presentation, it includes the Nusantara Education Research Exposition. Thus, participants may take part in either one event or both events; with different registration fees.
