Purpose of the module
The module is to enable students:
1. To obtain the deeper knowledge of the concept and inclusive approaches towards the
children education with special needs.
2. Comprehend the connection between agency and support system on effort to increase the
service of special needs population by studies.
3. Get applicability of concept and theory in fulfill the requirements and children education
with special needs.
4. Ability to increase the comprehension and service on effort to execute the government
policy towards an education and special needs population recovery.

Thesis (Programme B: 15 units)
GB6226 Special Education Practicum
The purpose of this course is to make students do assessment skills, teaching and special education management that have been studied by theory. This course will give students more exposure and professional training based on consumer and students requirement. Students will be placed at school or training centre that supplied specific programme for special children/ individual. Students are also encouraged to choose any school/ training centre for handicapped category that had been chosen in their tasks. This is individual course and students are responsible to choose any school/ training centre within the agreement by their supervisor. In the duration of practicum, students will be supervised by the appointed Faculty supervisor and assisted by supervisor from particular school/ training centre. Students are only allowed to register for this course at the end of attendance and finished their core courses in Master of Special Education.
Structure of Practicum
1. Students will undergo practicum by individual and choose their own school or training
centre that certified by Faculty. More than one student could be placed at school/
training centre.
2. Students will undergo practicum after they are finished study in the core courses.
3. Full time students will undergo practicum continuously for 14 weeks and part time
students will undergo their practicum at particular level for 14 weeks with the
supervisor’s approval. Each level must not less than 2 weeks. Practicum activities are
the following below:
a) To carry out the management observation in school/ training centre.
b) Involve in teaching programme and early intervention and special individual/
children assessment.
c) To provide the daily activity journal and fill up the report form of weekly activity.
4. Practicum students are defeated to the rules and Faculty of Education training Guidance
and supervision are:
a) Supervisor’s trip to school/ training centre where the practicum performed.
b) Observation supervision/ teaching/ children assessment/ special individual and
discussion after the session finished.
6. Evaluation has performed towards the following activities:
a) Evaluation towards observation session/ teaching/ assessment.
b) Daily Activity Report Written (Journal), Weekly Activity Report and Project Report
(10,000 to 14,000 words). Project Report will present the reflection and practicum
implication to students.
7. Supervisor will be appointed to carry out the supervision and practicum evaluation.
8. Grade will be given based on practicum project final report.
