The Department of Theology and Philosophy,
Faculty of Islamic Studies, National
University of Malaysia (UKM-Universiti
Kebangsaan Malaysia) is a prominent centre
of Islamic Studies in Malaysia which
actively organizing seminars at national and
international level such as: The
International Seminar on Muslim Theology and
Philosophy in UKM (1996),
International Seminar on Religion and
Development in UNTAG Surabaya, Indonesia
(2004), International Seminar on Culture
and Thought between China and Malaysia
in Beijing, China (2005), International
Seminar on Culture and Thought
Egypt-Malaysia in Cairo, Egypt (2006),
International Seminar on Religion and
Development in IAIN Sunan Ampel,
Surabaya, Indonesia (2006), International
Seminar on Religion and Development III
in UKM (2007) and International Seminar
on Culture and Thought Jordan-Malaysia
in the University of Jordan, Jordan
(2007).The International Seminar on
Islamic Thought was firstly organized in
2004 and was well received and attended by
more than 200 scholars from all over the
world. This Second International Seminar
on Islamic Thought (ISoIT2) therefore is
intended to continue the intellectual
tradition cherished by the Department in
enhancing the Islamic discussion on many
important issues challenging the Muslims in
recent time. |
