The Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS), in collaboration with the Asia-Japan Research Institute and the Institute of International Relations and Area Studies, Ritsumeikan University, Japan, organised a closed-door, expert-led workshop titled “Foreign Investment and Labour Standards in Malaysia, China and Japan” on 26 February 2026 (Thursday).
The workshop, held at the Training Room, Tun Fatimah Hashim Building, Akademik UKM Bangi, aimed to exchange knowledge, practices and lived experiences pertaining to the impacts of foreign investment on labour standards and practices in Malaysia.
Participants included representatives from Ritsumeikan University, Japan; City University of Hong Kong, China; North-South Initiative (NSI); Indonesian Migrant Domestic Workers Association in Malaysia (PERTIMIG); Alliance of Chin Refugees in Malaysia (ACR); and Rohingya Society in Malaysia (RSM). IKMAS postgraduate students also attended.
