DEVELOPMENT OF POSSIBLE INDICATORS FOR SEWAGE POLLUTION FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF LANGAT RIVER ECOSYSTEM HEALTH

Abstract

The pollution of the Langat River at Kajang was examined in terms of domestic sewage discharge. The effects of domestic sewage were studied. The water quality data obtained from effluents discharged at two selected sites along the Sungai Langat was used to develop indicators for sewage pollution. A model based on the Pressure-State-Response (PSR) concept was suggested for the development of possible indicators for the Langat River for the management of sewage discharge.
