The Archaeology Division of the Department of National Heritage, in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, UKM, organized a Workshop on Archaeological Conservation (Prehistoric Human Skeletons) from November 4-6, 2024. Led by Mr. Yazid Othman from the Department of National Heritage, the workshop aimed to enhance participants’ theoretical and practical knowledge in conserving artifacts and human skeletons.

Guest speakers included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuliskandar Ramli (ATMA UKM), Dr. Shaiful Shahidan (FSSK UKM), and Dr. Atika Ashar (FGG UKM).
EDUCATION
On 14 June 2024, a FGG UKM Lecture Series (CPD) program was held in Lecture Hall 3. Total of 3 speakers were involved in giving their respective lectures. Among the speakers involved is Mr. Wilson Wong, CEO of ACME SDN BHD and two lecturers from Faculty of Dentistry UKM, Dr. Beh Yew Hin and Dr. Tan Huan Lan.

They have delivered a lecture entitled:

The Denture Essential Kit program organized by Haleon was held on 23th of October 2023 at TIBE, UKM Kuala Lumpur Campus for 3rd year clinical dental students.

The objective of this program is to provide an introduction to denture care to the undergraduate students and to expose them to denture care products available in the market.

The program started with a lecture entitled "Denture Hygiene Care: Clinical Best Practices for Providers" by Dr. Mohd Zulkifli Kassim (Prosthodontics Specialist, UKM), followed by an info sharing and demonstration session on the use of Polident denture care products by Mdm. Siti Sajidah Mohd Fauzi (Haleon Product Expert).

On November 28, 2024, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange ceremony between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the Medical Protection Society (MPS) was held at the Putrajaya Convention Centre during the Festival of Ideas 2024.

UKM was represented by Prof. Dr. Tuti Ningseh Mohd Dom, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, while MPS was represented by Dr. Kaema Nadarajan, Malaysia Manager of MPS. MPS, a global organization, provides protection, advice, and professional representation for healthcare practitioners.

This collaboration aims to enhance professionalism among students and staff, strengthen patient safety, foster research opportunities, and reinforce UKM’s standing in healthcare education and excellence.

Fiber Post & Core workshop was hosted by the Department of Restorative Dentistry on 21st November 2024 at the Ruang Aktiv FGG and Simulation Clinic, Faculty of Dentistry, UKM. The Year 4 undergraduate dental students of UKM participated in this session.

This workshop was in collaboration with our industrial partners ACME MD Global Sdn Bhd and Omedis Healthcare Sdn Bhd with the aim to provide the students with sufficient exposure to the role of fibre post in restorative dentistry
.
On August 17, 2024, the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery organized the Matrix Trauma Fixation Workshop at the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic and Seminar Room, Faculty of Dentistry, UKM.

This workshop was a teaching and learning activity (both theoretical and practical) for postgraduate students on the management of maxillofacial trauma.

The "Adhesive in Dentistry” workshop organised by the Dell Dental Learning Center and the UKM Dental Alumni Association was conducted on 23rd and 24th of March 2024 at the Faculty of Dentistry, UKM.

A total of 25 participants consisting of dentists from the public and private sectors have participated in this program. It is hoped that this program will benefit participants by enhancing their knowledge and skills, enabling them to provide excellent dental care and management to patients.

On 23 - 24 July 2024, a "CEREC - A Single Day Dentistry" workshop was held to enhance the workflow of making dental crowns using an intraoral scanner and a CEREC machine.

This workshop is highly relevant for improving patient management efficiency through the use of the latest dental technology.

Big thanks to Dentsply Sirona for co-organizing the workshop, setting up intraoral scanners and milling machines, and providing free milled crowns!
Faculty of Dentistry, UKM, in collaboration with SC Dental Supply Sdn. Bhd., organized a lecture and hands-on session on the  Neodent Implant System.

This event took place on June 21, 2024, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Faculty of Dentistry, UKM. This programme aimed to expose our postgraduate students in periodontics and restorative dentistry with the Neodent implant system.

EDUCATION
On 23 May 2024, Ms. Katalina Cano, Senior E-learning Specialist from the International Team for Implantology (ITI) Global, Ms. Vida Lau, SEA ITI Section Manager, and representatives from Straumann Group Malaysia met with the faculty to discuss and initiate the preparations for the UKM Faculty of Dentistry to become one of the ITI campuses
BASIC IMPLANT
COURSE
A basic implant course, sponsored by Straumann, was held today at the Simulation Laboratory and Oral Surgery Seminar Room of the UKM Faculty of Dentistry. The course was attended by graduate students specializing in periodontology, restorative dentistry, and oral surgery.

The event was inaugurated by Associate Professor Dr. Badiah, Head of the Restorative Department. Guest speakers from Straumann and the International Team for Implantology (ITI), including Dr. Bryan and the Straumann team, were present. Additional facilitators for the course included Associate Professor Dr. Masfueh, Dr. Nik Madihah, and Dr. Nik Fatin Sarah. The program featured both practical sessions using goat heads and informative lectures



DENTAL SURGICAL LOUPES AND HEADLIGHTS – SEMINAR & HANDS-ON
Held on 16th February 2024 at the Active Learning Space, FGG UKM, the hands-on experience allowed students to appreciate how incorporating ergonomic loupes into practice promotes a healthier working posture, ultimately enhancing the overall well-being of dental professionals.
